Psychotherapy

My approach to psychotherapy is flexible and collaborative.  Although my primary orientation is psychodynamic (insight-oriented), I am also comfortable working in a more structured way to address specific and immediate goals.  I offer individual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, and also have extensive experience treating the emotional and cognitive challenges associated with aging in older adults. I have specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), a short-term therapy for PTSD (see below). Additionally, I have worked extensively with patients struggling with chronic pain and illness.

Teletherapy

I am certified in teletherapy and am able to provide secure and HIPAA-compliant teletherapy over a number of convenient platforms (Zoom, Webex, doxy.me).

Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD (CPT)

I offer CPT as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. CPT is a short-term therapy designed to treat the symptoms of PTSD. It typically lasts for 12 therapy sessions (50 minutes each). The treatment focuses on the connections between thoughts, feelings, behavior, and bodily sensations. The work of CPT helps patients to understand and modify the thoughts and beliefs that are keeping them "stuck" in symptoms of PTSD and other problems. FEES

I am an out-of-network provider.

I am happy to provide you with an invoice that you can submit to your insurance carrier. This documentation will include all relevant information required by insurance companies for reimbursement. Many insurance plans will reimburse you for services rendered by a licensed psychologist who is not in your network. Prior to your first visit, you may want to contact your insurance carrier to see if you have out-of-network coverage. To help simplify this process, I can contact your insurance company directly in order to help you determine your benefits status.

When speaking with your insurance provider here are some helpful questions:
-Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
-Is there out-of-network coverage?
-What is my deductible?
-How many psychotherapy sessions per year does my insurance cover?
-What is my reimbursement rate per psychotherapy session? (usually given as a percentage)
-Is approval required from my primary care physician?
